Passagiere schlagen die nächste vermeidbare Gebühr vor

1.000 Euro in bar für die beste Idee:
Passagiere schlagen die nächste Gebühr vor
Bisher dabei: Toilettenpapier, Sauerstoffmaske, Notausgang

Dublin, 12.

Ryanair Condemns EU Airport Slots Protectionism

RYANAIR CONDEMNS EU PROPOSAL ON AIRPORT SLOTS

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today, 12th March, condemned the EU’s proposal to waive the ‘use it or lose it’ rule in relation to airport slots as high fare airlines continue to reduce capacity at slot controlled airports. The Commission’s proposal would mean that it would no longer be mandatory for these airlines to operate and use their slots in order to retain them and could prevent Ryanair, the only airline increasing its traffic in Europe, from using them.

Reacting to the EU’s proposal, Ryanair’s Deputy Chief Executive, Michael Cawley said;

“This is protectionism of the worst type and will lead to further state and EU support for inefficient, high cost airlines which don’t have the cost base to support growth or even the maintenance of existing services. The Commission’s proposal will ensure that these inefficient, high cost airlines can hold on to valuable slots at slot coordinated airports without using them and essentially block any plans by Ryanair to grow at these airports. This is bad for aviation, airports and, above all, consumers as it reverses Europe back to its old regulated ways in aviation when inefficient, monopolistic, state run airlines blocked more efficient operators from competing on a level playing field.

Ryanair is set to grow by 9 million passengers this year, much of which will be at slot coordinated airports. Our path to reduce fares and increase passenger traffic should not be blocked by the inefficient, high fares airlines aided and abetted by the EU Commission’s misguided decision to allow them to hold on to slots without operating them.

We call on the EU Parliament and the EU governments to reject this protectionist proposal from the Commission and allow free access to unused slot times at all airports throughout Europe so that the most efficient operator can prevail and customers can enjoy the guaranteed lowest fares.”

Weitere Reduzierung in DUB

Ryanair’s Pilots Negotiate and Agree a 12 Month Pay Freeze
AND PRODUCTIVITY INCREASES

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (17 Mar) confirmed that it had successfully concluded a round of intensive negotiations at its 31 pilot bases across Europe, under which all of Ryanair’s pilot bases discussed and (overwhelmingly) voted in favour of a 12 month pay freeze with productivity increases as the preferred alternative to a 10% pay cut. Ryanair had originally sought a pilot pay cut to address the current downturn and two consecutive quarters of trading losses suffered by Ryanair this winter.

Having considered the state of the industry and the job losses affecting huge numbers of qualified pilots across Europe, Ryanair pilots and their representative committees (ERC’s) negotiated an alternative to pay cuts by agreeing to a 12 month pay freeze and productivity improvements with Ryanair’s average pilot pay remaining unchanged over the next 12 months, while many pilot unions throughout Europe are conceding pay cuts.

Welcoming the conclusion of these pilot negotiations, Ryanair’s David O’Brien said:

“These are extraordinarily difficult times in the airline industry. In Ryanair, we are still lowering air fares, which means we will suffer losses in both our third and fourth quarters of the current year (FY08/09). Our pilots have recognised the difficulties we face and are making their contribution by negotiating this pay freeze and productivity increase as the preferred alternative to pay cuts.

“Management at Ryanair has already accepted significant pay cuts. Now our pilots have rowed in with a pay freeze and better productivity enhancements. We are tightening our belt, to ensure that Ryanair meets its target of a 5% reduction in unit costs over the coming year which will allow us to pass on even lower fares to our passengers, and ensure that Ryanair continues to grow, continues to recruit and train new pilots, and continues to create jobs and promotions for our 6,000 people.”

Paris (Beauvais) Closure for Upgrade Works

CLOSURE OF PARIS (BEAUVAIS) AIRPORT FORCES WITHDRAWAL OF FLIGHTS FOR ONE WEEK IN JUNE

NO PARIS (BEAUVAIS) FLIGHTS BETWEEN 3rd TO 10th JUNE

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (24th Mar) confirmed that it will be unable to operate scheduled flights to/from Paris (Beauvais) between the 3rd and 10th June (inclusive) as the airport closes for one week to upgrade its landing systems to enable more Ryanair flights to land safely in adverse weather conditions.

Ryanair and Paris (Beauvais) Airport sincerely apologise to all passengers for any inconvenience caused by this one week closure in order to complete these essential upgrade works. This airport upgrade will benefit all passengers in the long-term as it will minimise weather related cancellations and diversions in future.

Ryanair will contact all affected passengers via email to offer them alternative flights or a full refund.

Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said,

“We wish to apologise to passengers for any inconvenience suffered as a result of this one week closure of Paris (Beauvais) between 3rdand 10th June.

These essential upgrade works will benefit all passengers in the long-term and will help to ensure that Ryanair passengers suffer fewer adverse weather related disruptions on flights to/from Paris (Beauvais).”

Government Must Keep Dublin Airport Open Despite Strike
RYANAIR CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO KEEP DUBLIN AIRPORT OPEN

Ryanair, Ireland’s largest airline, today (24th Mar 09) called on the Department of Transport – the downtown office of the DAA - to ensure that Ireland’s main Airport is kept open next Monday, even if the overpaid, underworked semi-state employees of the DAA and IAA monopolies decide to go on strike at a time when traffic to/from Dublin Airport is collapsing. Traffic at Dublin Airport has fallen 12% in the first two months of this year, and is set to fall further. Ryanair believes that there should be substantial job cuts, pay cuts and productivity increases at Dublin Airport to reflect this lower traffic, but there is no excuse for these public sector strikes.

Ryanair believes there would be no question of Dublin Airport being closed if Bertie Ahern’s Government had honoured its 2003 promise to deliver a competing second terminal at Dublin Airport. It is interesting that the UK’s Competition Commission has recently proposed this competition solution on the UK’s BAA airport monopoly, by forcing the sale of Gatwick and Stansted airports, and proposing competing terminals be developed at Heathrow.

Ryanair again calls on the Government to break up the DAA monopoly by selling off Cork and Shannon airports and allowing for the development of a competing third terminal at the high cost, inefficient Dublin Airport. This would prevent forever any chance of Dublin Airport being closed by Government protected public sector trade unions.

Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary said:

“There is no justification for any strikes next Monday by overpaid, semi-state workers at the DAA who despite a recession and the collapse in traffic, enjoy total job security. The only reason these people can close Dublin Airport is because the DAA is a Government owned monopoly where the public sector unions have repeatedly closed Ireland’s main international airport.

“It is up to the Government to ensure that Dublin Airport remains open either by facing down this public sector strike or better still calling in the army to keep air traffic control and airport security operating next Monday.

“The image of the Irish economy has suffered enough without Ireland’s main airport being closed by a small group of public sector trade unions who are completely insulated from the realities of the current recession and the stark choices facing private sector companies and their employees. Dublin Airport is a high cost, inefficient, Government owned monopoly, and it is about time this Government stood up to these public sector trade unions. If these head bangers go on strike at a time of enormous traffic declines at Dublin Airport, then the Government should impose 12% job cuts at Dublin Airport and Air Traffic Control to reflect the reduced work load being guaranteed by the reduced traffic numbers which will pass through Dublin Airport this year. If the public sector unions close Dublin Airport next Monday, they should be told in no uncertain terms that job cuts will immediately follow”.

Dutch Government Scraps Failed Tourist Tax

RYANAIR CALLS ON IRELAND AND UK TO FOLLOW

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (25 Mar) welcomed the Dutch Government’s decision to scrap the tourist tax introduced in 2008. Ryanair called again on the Irish and UK Governments to follow this example and scrap the Irish tourist tax and Gordon Brown’s £10 airport tax which has caused traffic to collapse at most UK airports during the past year. Ryanair repeated its call that European Governments cannot stimulate tourism by taxing visitors, instead they should welcome tourists by lowering Europe’s airport and ATC taxes.

Ryanair’s Daniel de Carvalho said:

“Ryanair has campaigned against high airport tax and so called “eco”tax which deter visitors and has cost the Dutch tourism industry millions in lost revenue. Tourists have voted with their feet and turn their back on the Netherlands as a tourist destination. Today’s decision to abolish this tax is a sensitive step to reverse the steep decline in traffic that the Netherlands has suffered.

We now call on the UK and Irish Governments to follow this sensible Dutch Government lead and scrap the damaging and unfair €10/£10 tourist taxes imposed to visitors.

Ryanair will now restart talks with a number of Dutch airports about new routes and traffic growth in Holland. To celebrate the end of this unfair tourist tax and to boost the Dutch tourism, Ryanair today launched a €10 seat sale to/from our Dutch destinations for booking until Thursday midnight at http://www.ryanair.com .”
